This reminded me of poet Natividad Gabriel Cañamero, from Alcuescar in Extremadura, Spain.
She used to write her poems in the walls of her kitchen because she was so poor she didn’t have money to buy paper. So she scratched the walls with a hair pin. People in the village knew of her writings and asked her to write plays to show in the local festivities.
One of her poems became the lyrics of a famous local jota, Jota del Candil.
Her daughter decided to copy the poems in a notebook, with a typewriter. You can read more about her, in Spanish, in this Twitter thread.
I think @minglana would appreciate this, now that we are speaking of Extremadurian things.
